3.
Principal and reasons :
Thailand has been confronting substance abuse
for last 50 years. Despite the strict measures taken for solving drug
problems and the extensive funds spent towards drug prevention, problems
persist in the nature of addiction changes according to type of drug,
addiction patterns, and the nature of the population. For instance, the
prime concern was once heroin among workers but changed recently to amphetamine
among teenagers. Several factors must be taken into account when approaching
these problems; some factors might include location, environment, geography,
society, culture, and the nature of the population.
Due to the ephemeral nature of the drug problems, we have to follow up
the situations closely and update our studies in order to solve problems
effectively and on time. This operation needs experts from regional areas
and abroad to share ideas and knowledge to accomplish the goals.
The ABAC Social Innovation in Management and Business
Analysis, The ABAC Academic Network for Community Happiness Observation
and Research, Assumption University, The Substance Abuse Academic Network
Board of Directors, and the Office of the Narcotic Control Board emphasize
the importance of improving necessary knowledge, conducting research,
and setting up appropriate data systems. Therefore, we would like to establish
the 5th Thailand Conference on Substance Abuse in order to gain knowledge
related to the tendency of drug problems and solutions for the most effective
policies in the future.
